Shane,

When we first met - that random chance encounter - I somehow felt like I'd known you forever. More like reuniting than an introduction. I quickly knew I wanted be at your side forever.

That sounds like an awful cliché, but it's the honest truth - an unshakeable truth.

From the start, we were inseparable. Within a few months of meeting, you moved in. And soon after, we packed up and left NY together.

In gay years that speed is unquantifiable.

And here I am almost 12 years later, still at your side, knowing that unshakable truth just as much now as I did then. Except now, in addition to being my spiritual partner; you're my rock, my sanctuary, my home, my best friend. There's no one like you walking this earth.

You have a mix of virtues that is astonishing, and to be honest, a tad absurd...

You're generous and thoughtful, forthright and tenacious, you're charismatic and authentic, and, of course, ridiculously adorable.

Your patience is nothing short of heroic...

But above all of this - you're kind.

You're the kindest soul I've ever met. And every day you fill mine with gratitude and awe.

There’s not enough time in the world to properly thank you for all the sacrifices you’ve made to build a life with me, and for us to be on this journey together. Your unfaltering encouragement has given me the anchor to grow, to explore, and to become the person I am today. You've enriched my life in ways my words cannot capture.

...And so, as we stand here today, surrounded by the love and support of our insanely awesome friends and family, I make these vows to you - I will FIERCELY stand by your side through all challenges that life will inevitably bring (and I do mean fiercely).

I vow to always create a home filled with laughter, compassion, and unwavering love - no matter what State (or Country) it may be in.

I, essentially, vow to be the majorly kick-ass husband that you deserve.
